Photographing your artwork


Bullet points from a talk Georgina gave us on photographing Our Work:


- Scan your images in as CNYK.

- Take a look at Sites like shrimpsaladcircus.com [15] who give very helpful tips on how to photograph products .

- Choose natural backgrounds-  at the moment these are very fashionable.

- Wood and Brick- Contrasting textures making the image interesting compositionally and texturally.

- Zoomed in a detail shots as well as full frame shots. show of little details and  show off your product in lots of contrasting shots.

- If you have items such as Posters and wrapping paper. put them into practise. use it for its function and photograph this .

- Colour balance-  White Backgrounds.

- When photographing books, Include:
* Details.
* Hands in image
* Show examples of pages , end papers and spreads.


- Use Natural Light rather than artificial .

- Make sure there is not too much shadow.

- Props and lifestyle shots

- Emphasis on Special Features.

- Still life shots.

- If possible, Hire out a space.
